Backyard Skimboarding 2009
Being the first event of its kind held in the famous Orchard Road shopping district, we were amazingly blessed with wet weather. The downpour created the perfect conditions for such an occasion, considering that this sport is typically done using crashing waves on a beach. The event was designed for *Scape, a non-profit organization supporting youth movement.
Hydro-planing across a wet plastic sheet, skimboarders demonstrated the basics of their beloved sport – the run, drop and slide technique. They then showed off with tricks like the 360 spin, the shuvit 180 and boardsliding on a rail that was custom-built just for this event.
In fun, rainy conditions, Izan put up a solid performance by combining technical maneuvers and snagged the top spot. Amy grabbed 2nd place and Ah Tee was in 3rd place with cash prizes.
This memorable day created a stir among onlookers and shoppers alike as they saw the boys sliding with grace and style in the heart of downtown Orchard Road Singapore.
The annual Bigfoot Industries Monsoon Mayhem 2009 International Surf Contest was held on the 3rd and 4th of January 2009. The third installment of the event turned out to be bigger than ever. While the waves gave the organizers a scare during the week prior to the event where there were only one to two foot swells. But on Saturday morning, the swell picked up providing beautiful waves up to six feet breaking perfectly for the event, a condition that can be rarely seen in Desaru. The crowd turn out was spectacular, contestants came from as far as Australia, United States, and Japan.
Bigfoot Industries stepped up the marketing efforts for the event this year and the results were extremely satisfying. The event was well covered by the local media as well as from the region, where the event was featured in Utusan Malaysia, Metro, New Straits Times in the local print media while TV3 telecasted highlights from the event on the local sports programme, Scoreboard.

In June 2009, swarms of extreme sports enthusiasts from all walks of life descended upon Somerset Skate Park to witness the adrenalin-pumping action of top skaters. Despite challenging rainy conditions, the competition drew in 55 inline skating and skateboarding daredevils to display their flair for the top prize. Big airs and supreme technical combo manoeuvres kept spectators at the edge of their seats.
The Skate for Unity Singapore, organised by Bigfoot Industries, is the first instalment of an annual competition series. It aims to unite assorted skate sports, showcase board-riding culture in its full glory as well as provide a spotlight for youth talent. The day-long affair is a fusion of sports, music and fashion.
With the backdrop of rails, ramps and colourful graffiti of the ever-popular Somerset Skate Park, competitors ripped up and down the course to impress the equally international jury. The Aggressive Inline Skate categories started first and were followed by the Skateboard contests. The energetic crowd was treated to a non-stop show of aerials, flips and grinds.
Alongside the action were a flea market; demos by Hip Hop dance crew, XS One and BMX crew, Fakie; and rocked-out performances by local bands Cesspitt, The Daddies and Fishtank. Urged on by the energy-rush and enthusiasm of both contenders and spectators, the last band returned for an encore to end the dazzling occasion.
The event was endorsed by Singapore Sports Council and *SCAPE.

Waves condition 2-3 ft onshore but that didn’t dampen the spirit of our competitors,Instead all the competitors showed great skills, talent and styles. History was made during the event, 4 of Malaysian surfers sealed sponsorship deals with an international clothing , certainly our Malaysian flag is flying high in the surfing scene. With a strong crowd of 5000 nothing could have been more spectacular than to watch our very own young local surfer MAMAT from Cherating becoming a champion in the men’s surfing division, Wanni from K.L took the women’s surfing division and Waqqi from Kuantan took the bodyboard division. Another great day at the beach.
monsoon mayhem Surf 2007
On the a brilliant morning of January the 1st 2007. Tanjung Balau (Desaru) was the backdrop of its first ever Surfing Competition. Called Monsoon Mayhem. It was the brain child of Bigfoot Industries and with the help of the local government, Kejora.
Having a total of 32 competitors from Singapore and all over Malaysia. It was the perfect day for a surfing competition. With a crowd of about 3000 spectators and raging waves, nothing could be more spectacular. The ages of the competitors ranged from as young as 10 years old to 35 years old. As the afternoon approached, the waves got more choppy and this made the competition more challenging than ever.
As the competition was conducted during the great flood in Kota Tinggi, January 2007. Bigfoot Industries decided that all sales of merchandise during the competition be donated to the flood victims. Though the event was a success, It was time to give back to the community. We would like to thank all our < SPONSORS > for their great support.

Very few places to skate around Desaru area so with the building of this skate park it really is a great thing.
A big thank you to local government for making this happen now the kids got a proper place to skate.
The event went well, and we a saw a jump in numbers of local competitors taking part in this year event. Forty competitors took part and the weather condition was perfect. We even have skaters coming from Singapore to compete.
As event organizer, we are pretty pleased with how the 2nd competition in the park came together and are grateful to all of the sponsors, volunteers, local government and skaters that made it happen. Now we have solid foundation to build future competition and we are stoked by the great response to the park by skaters from near and far.

skate competition 2006
In May 1st of 2006, Bigfoot Industries and the local government KEJORA, created our first Skateboard competition in Bandar Penawar, Desaru. Kejora helped build the the skate park and provided all the necessary logistics to make this amazing skateboard competition a reality.
We had almost 40 contestants from Malaysia and Singapore. It was a spectacular afternoon with a crowd of about 2000 spectators. This is the first time that a high adrenaline sport has been brought down to this part of Malaysia. It definately casued quite a stir in this once quiet neighbourhood.
Having this competition is a great way to reach to the young and also the local community. We are very proud to be involved in this community event. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people that were involved in the event, especially Kejora. We look forward to the next skateboard competition in 2007.
